As in previous years, all the money raised has been donated to a road
safety initiative. In 2013, the chosen project was that run by theNational
ParaplegicsHospital inToledo to improve accessibility andopportunities
for sports suitable for people with spinal cord injuries throughout the
healthcareprocess.
Furthermore, the ‘Kilómetros solidarios’ (Caring kilometres) initiative al-
lowed everyonewho downloaded the ‘Corremos juntos’ mobile applica-
tion to donate to the cause. For every kilometre that the runner covered
using the app, AXA Insurance donated one euro, contributing a total of
€10,000 to the chosenproject through this initiative.
3.0 road safety conferences
PonleFreno
celebrated twonew editions of its 3.0 conferences in 2013
to reflect on and analyse important road safety issues.
The 4th 3.0Conferencewas attended by road safety experts from Swe-
den, theNetherlands and theUnitedKingdomwho, alongwith theDirec-
tor General of Traffic, María Seguí, compared the road safety situation in
Spainwith that inother European countries.
The 5th 3.0 Conference brought together three experts to analyse the
report on whiplash produced by the Ponle Freno AXA Study Centre. It
revealed some interestingdata about this injury such as, for example, the
higher incidence rates amongwomenand the influenceof thecolour and
sizeof the car on the injury.
