TeToca! gives youngpeople a voice
The
TeToca!
initiative involvesanonlinecompetition inwhichyoungpeo-
ple aged from 12 to 17 have the opportunity to present their ideas for
solving a specific issue, either through their own proposals or through
requests to the adultworld.
Thepurpose is topromote youth awareness about certain social realities
andmotivate youngpeople toget involved.
In2013 thequestionposedwas, 'Howcanwe improve the school environ-
ment?', whichfittedwith the themeof 'The year of education'.
The jury, composed of a group of experts, has presented technology
awards to the selected entries, as well as €500 as seed capital to help
implement thepersonal proposals submitted. Thewinning ideas from the
'request to the adultworld' category alsohad theoption topresent their
projects to theMinister of Education and the Secretary of State, as well
as other important figures in theworldof education.
The proposals from the young people have suggested the need for a
morepersonal school, for amoreparticipatory system, formorepractical
and less theoretical classes, for the greater use of the new technologies
and for taking preventative measures to avoid school bullying, among
others.
Theprizeswere awarded to the following threeproposals:
1st ‘Entre todos, así sí’, that proposes the creation of the roles of
‘co-host’, ‘mini teacher’ and ‘mediator’.
2nd ‘Padres y profesores, os toca’, that gives key information
helping tomake it easier to co-exist ‘entre todos con ayuda
de todos' (betweenus all withhelp fromus all).
3rd ‘El sueñodeFinlandia’, that seeks solutions toprevent school
failure anddrop-outs.
In 2013, the
Te Toca!
project increased its presence in all media and has
registered 55,000website visits, more than 1,000 fans on Facebook and
more than3,000 followers onTwitter.
In 2013, Te
Toca! involved
more than 700
participants.
