Waste generation in 2013 has generally fallen compared to the previous
year, especially in the caseof hazardouswaste.Waste frombatteries has
been zero, 100% of the toners consumed have been recycled and televi-
sionwastehas seen adeclineof 30.5%.
Atresmedia
has alsomanaged to
hit the target of reducing thevolumeof solidurbanwasteby3% for 2013.
In addition, it has continued with the task of raising awareness among
the Group's suppliers, demanding from them the correct treatment of
thewaste theygenerate, which includes removingand re-using their own
packaging.
The
Atresmedia
group always uses the following guidelines when treat-
ingwaste: firstly it tries tooptimise the use of the goods and equipment
until theyno longer serve theirpurpose, regardlessof theuseful lifespeci-
fiedby themanufacturer; secondly it re-uses thesegoodsandequipment
in other areas where, although they cannot perform 100% due to wear
and tear, they can still be used for less demanding tasks; thirdly, in the
event that the goods or equipment cannot be reused internally, it looks
to the external market for companies that can do this and if these op-
tionsareunavailable, it lastly lookswithin thewastemarket for authorised
management companies that can correctlyhandle thewaste, so that it is
destroyedor, if this isnotpossible, itsenvironmental impact is reducedas
much as possible.
57.29%of the
