Official reports indicate around 1,500 fatalities, but this number is expected to rise to over 10,000 as rescue efforts progress. Moreover, significant infrastructure, buildings, and hospitals have been devastated.
In response to this situation, five NGOs within the Spanish Emergency Committee (Educo, Médicos del Mundo, Oxfam Intermón, Plan International, and World Vision) are conducting initial assessments and organizing their emergency response in the areas where they operate. Their efforts focus on providing shelter, food, education, water and sanitation, and healthcare, either directly or through local partner organizations.
The aid provided by the Spanish Emergency Committee and its member NGOs is crucial to ensuring the protection and support of those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar.

Atresmedia has supported the Spanish Emergency Committee since its inception, disseminating emergency appeals to the public through all its communication channels (television, radio, and digital platforms). The goal is to provide society with all necessary information on how to help in each crisis situation.
The Spanish Emergency Committee was created to offer a rapid response mechanism in emergency situations. Its objectives include increasing public support for various humanitarian crises, serving as a permanent link between NGOs, companies, media, and citizens, enhancing public trust in NGOs by ensuring transparency in emergency actions, and acting collectively as a benchmark for emergency aid in society.
