This 2020, due to the COVID19 pandemic, the traditional physical collections in supermarkets and ‘Operaciones Kilo’ have been dispensed with, so at Atresmedia we have joined the national campaign of the Gran Recogida (Great Collection) in a completely virtual way. From November 13 to 22, the Group's employees collaborated with the Food Banks through an online cart to alleviate the food crisis that we are experiencing.
The social need in this edition was really urgent: Banks have seen their food demand increased by 40% and they need to supply themselves with more than 21,000 tons of food to serve more than 1,800,000 people, who are in poverty and at risk of social exclusion in Spain, through 8,053 charities. A need to which Atresmedia employees have responded with great solidarity by donating more than any other year.
In addition, to help achieve this objective, we have broadcast free of charge the communication campaign of the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) on television, radio and digital platforms, to mobilize society and encourage donations in the Great Virtual Collection.
Since we carried out the annual food collection campaigns, we have donated a total of 10 tons of food.
