In 1995 he joined the Unidad Editorial Group, the publishing company of the daily newspaper El Mundo, where he successively held the positions of Director of Planning, Director of Magazine Development and Deputy Managing Director. In 2000, Mr Gutiérrez-Colomer became responsible for the administrative and business management of those group companies focused on non-print media, assuming the position of CEO of El Mundo TV, the Group's audiovisual content production company; Mundointeractivos, the publishing company of elmundo.es; and El Mundo Radio, which operated 11 FM radio stations. Furthermore, this last company was also the licensee of a nation-wide DAB broadcasting license.
In 2007, he was appointed General Manager of the Audiovisual Area of the Unidad Editorial Group, as head of all the audiovisual companies of the group, both in the Television and Radio areas, as well as CEO of VEO TV. Mr Gutiérrez-Colomer has been a member of the Board of Directors of the company since its incorporation, in his capacity as representative of Unidad Editorial, and he became its chief executive officer in May 2008. He also served as CEO of Aprende Inglés TV establishing, together with Richard Vaughan, a themed television channel dedicated to English language teaching on a 24-hour basis.
He was also appointed CEO of Unedisa Telecomunicaciones, a Group company in charge of operating television studios, and CEO of Radio Marca. In 2012 Mr Gutiérrez-Colomer assumed the position of Managing Director of Vértice 360. Subsequently, he has worked as a digital media consultant for a number of leading media publishing groups.
